Here are the answers to many of your FAQs or Frequently Asked Questions about the Santa Monica-Venice Christmas Run. If you have any further questions, please use the “Contact Us” form.

Can I register in person on race day?


Yes, but only if the Christmas Run has not yet reached capacity.

Where is packet pickup and when will they be available?

Packets may be picked up either Friday afternoon, December 9, 2016, or on race-day morning, Saturday, December 10, 2016.

Can I pick up my friend's packet?

Yes, but please bring with you a copy of your friend’s photo ID AND signed waiver for consent (click here for waiver) on Friday only. On race day, each individual participant must pick up his or her own packet.

Can I register a friend or family member?

Yes, but only immediate family members. (husband, wife, children). You may also do so at packet pick up but you will need a copy of their ID.

What time do the events start?

Please see the “Home” page for updated start times.

How long is the Kid's Fun Run?

As we usually get just the little ones, we keep it to about 2 blocks, out and back (parents can run with their kids for free).

Can I run with my dog?

Yes, but please have the dog on a short leash and start towards the back of the pack. Please remember, you are responsible for your dog’s behavior and any clean-up needed.

Can I push a baby stroller on the course?

Yes, and bring your baby too! Please start towards the middle or back of the pack for safety reasons.

Are bikes, skate boards, inline skates or razor scooters allowed on the course?

Sorry, no. For the safety of runners and walkers, we cannot allow bikes, skateboards, skates, inline skates, razor scooters, etc. or any motorized vehicle on the course.

Can I run both races?

Unfortunately, no. The Christmas Run’s 5K and 10K races are run simultaneously.

Is mass-transit available for the race?


Yes, Santa Monica has an extensive mass transit network. The area is serviced by Santa Monica’s Big Blue Bus network and Los Angeles’ Metro bus system. And beginning in May 2016, the Expo Light Rail Line will be available to within a few blocks of the Santa Monica Pier.


Can I buy additional shirts?


Yes, but only after completion of the 5k and 10k Runs. We need to be sure all registered runners get their shirts first.

Are race fees refundable or transferable?

Sorry, but all entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions. See our Refund Policy & Race Rules.

Are walkers welcome?

Yes, Walkers are welcome! Participants must maintain an 18 minute per mile pace or faster to meet course time limit requirements.

Are there portable restrooms along the course?

Yes, they will be located at the aid stations.
