Christmas Run Training Plans & Runs

Whether this is your first running event or you’re a veteran, it’s important to be ready. Remember to train smart and not overdo. Below are training plans and group training runs to help you get to the Christmas Run finish line.

While these training plans are designed for beginners and those with limited running experience, they can be used by most anyone. However, running is strenuous and may not be right for you. Before you start training or undertaking any form of physical exercise, CONSULT with your doctor. Some conditions that may increase your risks are: • Having existing medical issues, • Being overweight, • Personal or family history of heart disease, • History of high blood pressure, diabetes and/or asthma, • If you are pregnant, • If you are or were a smoker.

Start slowly. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get used to exercising and running regularly. Be careful not to overdo, especially in the first few weeks. The risk of injury is too high to push yourself too fast. Rest days are an integral part of the schedule. Do not overlook them.

TriFit Club and Studios is proud to offer two weekly training runs for the 2016 Christmas Run. Runs are free of charge and open to all.

Wednesday Morning Track Runs

The Wednesday morning track workouts are at 6:30am at the Santa Monica College Track. The track is located at the corner of Pico and 16th street at Santa Monica College. Metered parking is available next to the track, which is free until 8 am. Warm up begins at 6:20am, and we’ll start the workout at 6:30am For more information, please email

Wednesday Evening Training Run

The Wednesday evening run is a 3-4 mile (shorter and longer options available) beginner-friendly jog to the beach and back. This run meets outside of TriFit in the Courtyard of the Colorado Center at 2425 Colorado Ave. Meet in front of Elabrew coffee shop by 6pm.
